Wat Pho is one of Thailand’s must-visit tourist attractions. Ultimately, it is Bangkok’s largest and oldest monastery, the city’s first university, and contains the most Buddha images and the largest reclining Buddha in the country.
It was established in the 17th century as Wat Photharam – a hundred years before Bangkok became the capitol city of Thailand. The official name was later changed to Wat Phra Chetuphon by the King Rama I, but the people continued to use the old name. Wat Pho is also one of the six Thailand’s temples that classified under the highest royal grade. If you are interested in visiting the temple, please contact us for more information.
